This is my story. I'm Abby Lohr. Today, I've got stories from a middle school in Northeast Mississippi. These are the stories of curious, angry, confused, inspiring, hilarious children growing into teenagers in a public school in rural Mississippi. Their stories are irrevocably entwined with my own. See a very small taste of their stories here.
As I have driven all over this beautiful, backwards state throughout this two year journey through Mississippi Teacher Corps, I have listened to the radio. I listened to the radio up the baked-heat highway to Memphis. I listened to the radio through the black prairie to Aberdeen. I listened to the radio through the rollercoaster hills to Oxford. All the while, I listened to the StoryCorps podcast on NPR. I listened to stories of soldiers returning from war, men who dress like women and are loved dearly by women, daughters who never knew of mother's first husbands, siblings who were lost before they were found, and parents who were found before they were lost. People from all different places and walks of life. People like me. People unlike me. People.
I have decided to share my story. I hope you enjoy viewing the highs, lows, and selfies galore of Room 207.
